You’re kidding me, right?

“His Lonely March… Bush would love as much support as possible against Iraq, but in the end he requires only his own resolve…” Time magazine, March 17, 2003.

That’s the headline of the article which starts on page 20. This is terrifying. Of course I expect this kind of propaganda from Time but that statement is just insane. Though that’s the truth isn’t it? All it takes is for this one man (and the club of buffoons behind the scene) to decide.

World opinion is irrelevant? Hello? Is anyone home? The so-called “leader of the free world” is now entitled to do whatever the hell he wants? Honestly, should he not be referred to as king? I’m totally serious. Let’s stop pretending that this is anything remotely resembling a democracy and just call it what it is. That’s right folks… welcome to the Kingdom America!

Frankensteins, the CIA, and Profiteering

Okay, so George Bush and his buddies say that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction that have not been destroyed? They also refuse to provide evidence because it could endanger the sources? Well, okay, perhaps this is true but the sources are not secret operatives. No, the sources are daddy Bush and the war mongers who were in power in the 1980’s and 1990’s. They know what Saddam has because they sold it to him. They had or have the receipts for stuff that should be showing up in Hans Blix’s reports.

Will these folks ever learn? The U.S. government has been involved with destroying governments it dislikes and setting up ones it does. It sends in operatives, sells weapons, and kills people. The folks involved stand to make a good bit of money, or at least their friends in industry do. We reap what we sow. Well, at least some people do. It’s the common folk that end up suffering while the elite are safely untouchable. Perhaps Saddam and Osama should start wearing t-shirts which proclaim in bold letters: “Made in the USA”?

It probably goes without saying that the same business creeps who made a tidy profit from the arming of Saddam are also reaping the benefits of the war to destroy Iraq. Then they’ll profit off of the next go around… and the next…. and the next.

The origins of the “weapons of mass destruction” should be reported on and discussed widely. Of course we’d never really expect the media to delve into this particular story. They’ll mention it hear and there perhaps but it’s not likely to ever get the kind of coverage it really deserves.

As the Zapastistas of Mexico have said: Ya Basta! Enough is enough! If humanity is to survive it needs to stop the war profiteering of the elite. We’ve got to demand change from ourselves and our leaders in the way we think about our relations with other countries and about war. It’s 2003 and well past the time that we play this game which is no game at all.
